First Mission:
As part of our ongoing Matrix Avatar programming, beginning on January 5th, the “base” avatar holders will be given a choice -- take a “Blue Pill” and have your avatar remain locked in the Matrix or take a “Red Pill” and transform your avatar into a resistance fighter "unplugged" from the Matrix, having the same body but featuring entirely new clothing, hairstyles, and accessories inspired by the heroes of the Matrix films.
In this article, we'll show how you can participate in this first mission and key details to understand before choosing to take on the challenge.
Notes before we get started...
Once you participate in this challenge with your avatar(s), the actions are NOT reversible! Taking either pill results in a permanent change to your base avatar.
This is the result of the NFT smart contracts changing on the Palm network. You can check out our glossary here for more information on smart contracts.
Once you take either the Red or Blue pill on your avatar, you will NOT be able to go back and change your decision. For example, if you take the red pill, you cannot go back and then decide to take the blue pill on the same avatar.
If you have a set of twins, triplets, or quadruplets, and decide to have them all consistently take either a red pill or a blue pill, they will remain identical. For example, if you have a set of twins and have both take the red pill, they will still be twins. Whereas if you have one take the red pill and the other take the blue pill, they will be unique.
There is no time limitation on this mission! Have second thoughts? You exit the module using the X in the upper right-hand corner.

What errors or issues could you see?
You will want to make sure you are connected to the right wallet associated with your Matrix avatars. For example, if you have both a MetaMask and a Nifty's email wallet, and your Matrix Avatar(s) are associated with your Nifty's email wallet. You'll want to make sure you are connected to the Nifty's wallet vs. MetaMask. You can connect to the appropriate wallet by using the wallet icon and the drop-down icon.
If you're unsure about which wallet your avatar(s) is associated with, please submit a support request and we'll be happy to help!
If your avatars are associated with your MetaMask wallet, you'll want to make sure your wallet is correctly configured for Palm and connected to the Palm network prior to contract approval/pilling your avatar.
Make sure you do not switch wallets mid-reveal or mid pill decision. The respective wallets need to be connected prior to the pill choice.
Make sure to not refresh your page once you've clicked the confirm button. Refreshing or leaving the page could result in an error in receiving your avatar.
If your avatar is taking time to update/be revealed, this is expected. This is due to delays in the blockchain. We recommend checking out this article for additional details.
Choosing a Pill:
Now that you've made the decision to choose a pill, time to dive into how the pill selection works!
You'll want to begin by clicking heading to niftys.com and heading to your avatar viewer on the Matrix event page.
You'll then scroll down to your avatar viewer and select the avatar you're looking to either red pill or blue pill. In the example below, I've selected my avatar and I'm now going to click on the First Mission: Choose a Pill prompt:
Before selecting, you'll need to approve the contract for the selection to take place. Once you click approve, you can proceed forward with checking out the pills.
From there, you'll be brought to a screen where you can select either the red pill or the blue pill. Should you want to exit, you can use the X in the upper right-hand corner. At this point, your decision is not confirmed - you're free to explore both options or not make a decision at all! More on that to come.
Depending upon which selection you make, (Red Pill, Blue Pill, or neither) you'll be brought through a series of prompts making sure you 100% want to select the pill/choice with your avatar. As we mentioned before, these changes are irreversible. Once you click confirm - that decision is cemented and you cannot go back. Prior to clicking confirm, if you have any doubts, you can either click cancel or the X in the upper right-hand corner to leave the mission and start over again at a later time.
Once you click confirm, do not refresh your screen - a few moments will pass and then you'll be brought to a screen to reveal your avatar.
You can then click Reveal Now and your avatar will be available! It may take a few moments for the avatar to be viewable on either your avatar viewer OR your Nifty's profile page.
